PG Diploma in Adult Education (PGDAE) meets the needs of established professionals considering a teaching role in that field, or you are already a teacher or trainer in the adult and vocational education sector and are looking to enhance your teaching practice. Adult Education can be completed in two years on a minimum time basis.
This programme is the result of collaborative efforts of IGNOU, UNESCO and JNU aimed at capacity building and professional development of adult education with an emphasis on participatory adult learning, documentation, information dissemination and networking at local, national and international levels.
This Program targets advancing proficiency advancement and limit working in the region of grown-up instruction with an accentuation on participatory grown-up learning, documentation and data organizing at national and worldwide levels.
Eligibility Criteria for PG Diploma in Adult Education (PGDAE)
1. Applicant should have done their Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA.
2. Applicants should have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of work experience.
3. There is an age limit prescribed by a few institutes that provide part-time degrees.
4. According to some institutes, a candidate’s age should not be less than 27 years and not more than 50 years.
5. Candidates should have aggregate marks of 40% to 60% in the undergraduate degree.
Admission Process
1. Applicant on relevant entrance examinations determines admission to various universities and colleges.
2. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.
Career after PG Diploma in Adult Education (PGDAE)
Adult Education is a postgraduate adult education course. As far as adult education is concerned it is the practice of teaching and educating adults. Adult education takes place in the workplace, through 'extension' school or 'school of continuing education including folk high schools, community colleges, and lifelong learning centres.
Candidates should also be able to work in community services like senior first aid, and child-safe environments; doing basic home maintenance like safety procedures, and emergency situations. This degree course prepares the students to go for various educational, teaching, cultural and related jobs.
They can have jobs in local adult community colleges, outreach centres, further education colleges, universities, and independent providers such as residential colleges and charitable organizations.
